The first ever Green Hills Park Festival will be September 17, 2016 from 4-9pm.  There will be food, drink, live music, and the movie Inside Out.  Save the date, check out this Facebook page for updates on vendors and activities, and email friendsofghpark@gmail.com if you want to be more involved!

The Parks Dept. has been very busy working on its Master Plan.  Let them know that Green Hills residents want to be part of the greenway system by filling out this survey www.surveymonkey.com/r/PlanToPlayGreenways.

Metro is still working on the sidewalk/bikeway plan.  Let them know that we want sidewalks and protected bikeways in Green Hills by filling out this survey  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/598MDSB

Looking for some reading materials?  Check out Shaping the Healthy Community: The Nashville Plan.  Recently released by the Nashville Civic Design Center, this book outlines how Nashville's built environment can be improved to create a healthier environment.  Strategies include a multi-use path to 12 South:

Strategy: Maintain a system of connected pedestrian and bicycle pathways between retail and residential areas to encourage accessibility by means other than the automobile.

Strategy: Create a green-belt loop around Green Hills incorporating pedestrian and bicycle routes between neighborhoods and commercial areas, while offering safe recreational options.

Sue, We are working on a design (with the Nashville Civic Design Center) for the how the entrance from Belmont Park Terrace (by the playground) could be made safer. We hope to have it ready to show off at the Festival! Slowing down cars and adding a crosswalk are important needs at that corner.
